10:07am Tuesday 5th December 2006

SOUTHERNPRINT has been named Magazine Printing Company of the Year at a glittering ceremony in London.

Part of Daily Echo publisher Newsquest, Southernprint took the honour at the Periodical Publishers Association Magazine Production Awards.

Judges said the past year had been a period of change for the Dorset based company, after agreeing more flexible shift patterns with its workforce and restructuring the commercial department to give a stronger customer focus.

John Brown Citrus had awarded the company production of its prestigious Waitrose Food Illustrated magazine in June this year, while EMAP, IPC Media, Future Publishing and Dennis Publishing had also renewed contracts.

Charles Jarrold, managing director, said: "We are absolutely delighted. It is fitting recognition for all our employees who have worked so hard.

"These awards act as a real benchmark for the industry and attract entries from some of our toughest competitors making our success even more appreciated."
