Mickey Bolitar has travelled the globe with his parents, helping children in need. As he gets older, he decides he wants to settle down in one town, to finish high school. Just as he starts to settle, he witnesses his father’s death and his mother being taken to rehab.
Mickey ends up with his uncle. Life starts to level out for him; he lives in a nice house, goes to a decent school and even gets a girlfriend, Ashley.
The school year barely starts when Ashley disappears without a trace. Mickey, along with his new friends, Ema and Spoon, goes on a search to find Ashley and unravel the story behind the mysterious Bat Lady.
