Safri: It would be a shame if Pearson wasn't kept on

SAINTS captain Youssef Safri is desperately hoping for Nigel Pearson to return as the club's manager next season.
The position of the Saints boss is the subject of uncertainty, despite leading the club to survival in the Championship.
The current board wants to see him remain in charge, but with their reign almost certainly coming to an end, Pearson's future has been cast into doubt.
There has been no indication from Rupert Lowe or Michael Wilde about what their plans are on that front, if they complete a return to the boardroom next week.
But Safri, who took the armband for the crucial final day win over Sheffield United last Sunday, said Pearson has the full backing of him and the rest of the squad.
He said after the work Pearson had put in to help save Saints, he had earned the right to be brought back for next season.
"He deserves it," he said. "He put in a lot of really hard work and he had a really hard job to do.
"It would be such a shame if he goes and I don't want us to lose him. I wish that he will stay and I want him to stay."
Safri said he had received a lot of support from Pearson and he was impressed with how well he had taken control of the club.
The Moroccan added his man management skills were excellent.
"His tactics are good, his communication is excellent, the discipline is very good and all I can say is that he is the right man for the job," he said.
"His communication with all the players is so good. The players all listen to the manager."

Let's hope whoever is in charge over the summer keeps Pearson, I know not everyone is convinced but if a manager has the respect of the player's then surely that is the greatest quality a new manager can have. Safri definately seems to support him and the points that he has said have been shown in most of the recent games.

Pearson may not have set the world on fire but he very quickly stopped the rot, he sorted the defence and established a togetherness in the team that enabled us to scrape to safety. He started from a very poor position and made some shrewd tactical decisions (playing Surman at LB and bringing Lallana into the side)
For evidence of his man management skills just look at the miraculous transformation in Euells form since his arrival? Euell played like a man possessed on Sunday and was a contender for MOTM for me.

The players’ respect him and the fans of his previous clubs appreciate him as much as the greater majority of Saints fans do. You would have to be short of a large number of brain cells not to agree that he should now be given the job ASAP so that he can prepare properly for next season for there is a lot of work to be done. We have lost out at this important time of the year in previous seasons thanks to Burley prevaricating and the boardroom squabbles. I like Pearson. He talks sense and he also delivers. Give the man the job and stop the constant messing about with our club. The fans helped to save this club on the last day of the season and they are owed big time. Do the decent and honourable thing and appoint him now.

as a supporter who renewed my 2 season tickets in March,i would certaintly like NP to remain in position as our manager for next season, not only did he get lazy players fit again, but he also brought something out of them that at least showed some minor inner believe that they owe the supporters something in return for our hard earned money. again when NP speaks after the game he certaintly does not hide, he comes out and tells the truth not like that useless breed earlier of Burley and then Dodds who both gave rubbish match reports, and all insisting the roses were growing again. As for Lowe i dont care if he never wakes up again, as he was the worst load of trash ever brought to Southampton, and was more concerned with his own ego, whilst Wilde had the money, but little else - but just talking about these 2 half wits, surely the talk is that Lowe is going to be chairman of the PLC, and Wilde as chairman of the fotballing side will have the final say on the manager, even more so when Wilde himself is the main shareholder of the PLC. Surely he took Saints from (lower) midtable to the brink of relgation. If Burley had stayed we'd been midtable. Mickey Adams/Ince/Hoddle even nonleague Nicky Holmes would ahve done better than Pearson. OK he's done the bare minimum in keeping Saints up but surely we deserve far better than that. I'm realitic and think top half next season would be decent but I don't think pearson is the man to do that.
How many games has he actually win? about 3 in 18 isn't it? He is not the right man for the job.

Next time you go to SMS remember to look at the green patch in the middle. It was patently obvious to me and many thousands of fans that we were in free fall after XMAS. GB couldn`t wait to leave, Gormless & Dudd were hand tied, it took a tough talking NP to turn us round.
This is a massive club, just like a super tanker takes longer to turn than a canoe. I agree the other names may have done the same job but NP for me I have the greatest respect for him,he is the guy to take us forward.

You have to start somewhere. He started at the beginning and in my opinion did a solid job with this squad. He got them fitter, believing in them selves and playing more like a team. I say keep him on, he deserves it.
Face it, all of the managers that are currently looking for employment were deemed to be no good by their former employers so why would they be any different if they came here.

We were hopeless when NP came in and he turned things around. He made us into a side that went out to earn a result rather than just hope for the best like with burley. Fair play to him he has got the best out of some very average players. Hes one of the reasons ive renewed my season ticket
