A NEW NHS dentist is opening its doors for 6,000 patients in Romsey.

Residents are being invited to register for the practice which is looking to take on the new patients over the next year.

Hampshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) is asking anyone who would like to sign up to call the dental helpline instead of visiting the practice as they will not be able to accept people who go directly to them.

A spokesman for the PCT added: "In order to make sure that patients do not have to wait too long to see a dentist, a limited number of names will be taken each month - this is to prevent the build up of long waiting times for appointments.

"If you do not need to see a dentist immediately, it would be very helpful if you could wait a month or two, so that people needing more urgent care can be seen first."

People who would like to register should call the helpline on 0845 050 8345, Monday to Friday between 2.30pm and 5.30pm.

Sounds like bread queues in Communist Russia in days of old.

Probaly the same setup as is in New Milton. Foreign national dentists, who do not speak proper english or do not understand our grammer. On this basis i did not trust having my dentist sort my dentures, so i went private, with english dentists that i feel i could trust, more so to do the work properly.

It must be very tiresome being a dental recetionist and telling people that you've booked them in for 2.30...you can imagine it can't you....i bet it feels like your at the '2008 Witless Tw@t Convention' some days!

I have been a patient of the ADP dental group and since April I have had an infected tooth, I am still waiting for the dentist to let me know if he will carry out my treatment, which is extensive. Due to NHS chances "they" are worse off and don't like extensive NHS work. I have waited four months now.I have been treated three times with antibiotics and just waited three weeks for my ADP dentist to come back from holiday.
