iPads replace pens and paper in a first for school
THEY are more accustomed to chalkboards, pens and paper.
But now children at a Southampton school are using the latest technology in the classroom.
Youngsters at Great Oaks School have taken delivery of 40 iPads, which have been loaded with scores of education-specific apps to aid their learning.
Staff will be given ten of the tablets, with the 30 pupils being handed one each to use during the school day.
The gadgets form part of a nationwide project being run by education solutions experts, Jigsaw24, giving schools across the country the chance to introduce iPads into the classroom.
Great Oaks is the first school for children with special educational needs in the UK to take part in the ground-breaking initiative.

What a brilliant idea.
Kids with speech difficulties can often get their point across far faster typing or by picking images.
There are all sorts of tools for dexterity skills on tablets
AND those who can gain computer literacy increase their chances of semi independence later in life.
