JOURNALISM students at the University of Winchester got some tips from the top when BBC South Today presenter and Daily Echo columnist Sally Taylor opened their new £220,000 TV studio and newsroom.
The facility will be used to produce weekly and daily news bulletins by the undergraduates as part of the students’ journalism training.
Dr Paul Manning, head of the university’s School of Media and Film, said: “It’s a fantastic resource to help train the next generation of journalists and presenters.
“Sally is a very well known and respected figure in broadcasting and a great example for our students. It would be wonderful if the new studio helped some of our students in the School of Media and Film to achieve the same success.”
The new School of Media and Film was opened in September 2008 with a lecture presented by the Deputy Director-General of the BBC, Mark Byford.
