A SOUTHAMPTON school’s dedication to the arts has been recognised with a prestigious award from the Arts Council England.
Upper Shirley High School has received an Artsmark Gold, reflecting its commitment to encouraging its students to explore art, music and drama.
The school achieved the recognition following an inspection in which it had to show its passion for art is reflected in teaching time across the curriculum.
“We have to show art is embedded across our teaching in other subjects as well,” said vice-principal Martin Brown.
“Our students and staff are proud that they have received yet another award in recognition of their hard work.”
