THE best results Mountbatten School’s history have been recorded, with 83.5 per cent of pupils picking up at least five high passes, up from 77 per cent last year.

Of the 278 students at the Romsey school, 71 per cent have finished with five or more passes including maths and English, which is also up on 2009’s 65 per cent.

Thirteen youngsters achieved straight A* and A grades, while 98.2 per cent of pupils have managed at least five A* to G passes.

At Applemore College in Dibden Purlieu the pupils have achieved another record-breaking set of results, with 71 per cent picking up at least five A* to C grades, and almost half getting nine good passes.

Including maths and English, 53 per cent got five or more top grades.

Head teacher Roland Marsh said: “This high level of success confirms Ofsted’s view earlier in the year that “Applemore College is a good school that is rapidly improving” – these results certainly validate that judgement.

“This high level of success is a true reflection of what can be achieved when our students, staff and parents work in partnership to fulfil our motto ‘going forward together’.”
