THE spirit of the London 2012 Olympic Games was burning brightly among hundreds of youngsters at a Southampton school.

More than 600 pupils at Springhill Catholic Primary School, in Milton Road, took part in an Olympic torch relay in the school playground.

The torch featuring the school's logo was created by staff member Patsy Donovan. It has been passed around the school’s 21 classrooms during the past few months.

And the school’s 630 pupils got together to parade the torch around the school grounds, where the number 2012 had also been colourfully spelled out.
