University of Southampton climbs to 73rd in 2012 QS World University League Rankings

THE University of Southampton has climbed the rankings in an influential global league table.

It has been named as the 73rd-best performing higher education institution in the 2012 QS World University League Rankings.

Southampton is one of only 18 UK universities to make the global elite of 100 higher education institutions, which last year named Cambridge University as the best in the world.

This year’s league table has given the university its highest ever ranking.

Deputy vice-chancellor Professor Adam Wheeler said: “Over recent years the university has continually improved its position as a global institution recognised for its academic excellence in education and research by employers, graduates and academic colleagues across the world.”
