Five wives living on an army base somewhere in England. Five lives caught up in the humdrum tension of waiting for their men to return whole and unharmed. War does terrible things to people. It leaves scars both visible and invisible. A front-line incident ricochets through their lives and each woman is forced to confront hidden and painful truths. Performed by Cathy Shipton (best known as Duffy in BBC TV’s Casualty), Soldiers’ Wives was described as ‘a quietly assured tour-de-force’ (Daily Telegraph) at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe where it was nominated for The Stage Award for Best Solo Performance.
