CONMEN claiming to be selling diaries on behalf of the police are targeting people on the Isle of Wight.
The bogus cold-callers have been phoning households and businesses claiming to work for the force selling stationery.
Hampshire Constabulary bosses are keen to stress the police do not have a sideline in selling pocket-sized diaries.
Isle of Wight crime prevention officer Michala Bailey said: “Anyone who receives a call like this should try to remember as much as they can about the caller and the details they give you over the phone.
“This information can prove vital to police in identifying and catching offenders.”
Anyone with information should call 0845 0454545.
