The Hampshire city streets and country lanes came alive with the revving of engines and the spinning of tyres during the On Two Wheels Motorcycle Fun Day.
Enthusiasts took part in a classic cycle cavalcade on July 1, 1990, clocking up 50 miles from Netley’s Royal Victoria Country Park – the setting for the event – and back.
The stormy weather didn’t put off the thousands of fans who poured into the country park to take part in the motor cycling extravaganza.
Southampton-based classic cycle expert Peter Page said there was still a need to project the good name of motorcycling and get away from the Hells Angels and dirty jacket image.
The Tigers, the Eastleigh-based Children’s Motorcycle Display Team, thrilled the audience with a spectacular show including fire jumps and high-speed cross-overs.
The Blue Light, the police motorcycle display team, also took part in the Two Wheels skill show.
