YOU recently published a letter regarding the events surrounding the fateful bombing at the Art Gallery during the Blitz in 1940 where 14 girls lost their lives.

The writer of the letter claimed that one of the girls, Audrey Hunt, who sadly passed away in September 22 2009, was the only girl to survive the bombing. I feel I must write and tell you of another of the girls who survived the bombing and is actually still alive, whose name is Eva.

I have not printed Eva’s surname as I do not wish to cause her any distress. Eva is living in Leicestershire and over the years I have had contact with her, the last time occurring a few months before Christmas, but sorry to say that day she was not well enough to speak. I thought you and your readers would like to know this information and put the record straight.

Mr R Strange, Shirley, Southampton.
