Former Ford workers plan reunion supper

9:40am Wednesday 30th June 2010

EVER wonder what happened to old workmates and colleagues?

One former Ford man does and plans to track down the 550 staff who took voluntary redundancy from the motor giant more than a year ago.

Grandad Mike Needle spent nearly 30 years at the giant Southampton plant as a line worker, welder, fitter’s mate and eventually supervisor.

The 55-year-old dad-of-two, from Lordswood, said: “Ford always had the feel of a small family plant where everyone knew each other.

“Being there as long as many of us were you make some great friends but then when you leave you all go your separate ways.

“I thought it would be great to get together for a few drinks and a fish and chip supper.”

The event is open to all former and current staff and will be held on September 3 at the Ford Sports and Social Club, Southampton.

Call Mike on 07777 610 173 or email m.needle@btinternet.com to book your place.
