Saint Mary Street 1984. The landmark building in the distance is Duke's Keep in Marsh Lane.

"This photograph was taken in 1933, prior to the arrival of a well known landmark. "

For a photograph taken in 1933 there are some very futuristic cars and some experimental Double Yellow lines that didn't become used country-wide until the 1960s or later.

It's looking up towards Shirley. The woman on the right with the carrier bag is my Aunt May and she's smoking a Woodbine. I reckon it's about 1984 same year the book came out.

It was definitely 'The Shirt King' owned by N.Siegler and Co. , next to the railway bridge. The only other gents clothes shop on that street was Sydney Man Shop , owned by Sydney Tendler near Henry's records.
