Travel by coach from your selected pick-up point, cross the Channel, and continue to join Olympia in the spectacular Rhineland capital. Enjoy dinner and your first evening on board, before Olympia sets sail for Andernach.
You'll have time to explore the historic riverside town of Andernach this morning, before Olympia sails south through the Rhine Gorge. Passing beneath the fabled Lorelei you'll head to to Rudesheim. This afternoon, join our optional excursion to see the quirky wonders of Siegfried's Musikkabinett and enjoy a wine tasting before you explore the town's narrow streets, the most celebrated of which is the famous Drosselgasse.
Early risers will notice Olympia leave her moorings before breakfast, heading to a lunchtime appointment in Mannheim. Join the optional excursion to beautiful Heidelberg, the 'Student Prince' city, and explore the twisting streets and lanes of one of Europe's most romantic settings, before re-joining the Olympia in Speyer. For those staying on board, cruise with the Olympia to Speyer, once one of the most important cities in the Holy Roman Empire.
Olympia arrives in Plittersdorf at breakfast time, and the morning's optional excursion offers you the chance to visit to the elegant spa town of Baden-Baden, with its casino and thermal baths, before rejoining Olympia in Strasbourg. Later, the day's second optional excursion offers you the opportunity to discover Strasbourg, home to the European Parliament and the Council of Europe, and where the ancient Petite France quarter stands as a beguiling labyrinth of medieval buildings and canals.
Olympia arrives this morning in the quaint town of Breisach, from where you can join our included half-day excursion through the Black Forest. Visit the regional 'capital', Freiburg, to see the spectacular red sandstone cathedral and explore the Altstadt before we return to Breisach. This afternoon, explore Breisach - from atop the city's cathedral the views out over the forest are breathtaking - and later enjoy a farewell dinner on board, in the company of the Captain and your fellow passengers.
Olympia ties up in Strasbourg this morning, from where you'll begin your return journey back to the UK.
24th and 25th October departures
Please note that the 24th and 25th October cruise operates a reverse itinerary, sailing from Strasbourg to Cologne. All included calls and highlights remain the same although the days will change, and all pricing and optional excursions remain the same.
Coach seating arrangements
Your Tour Manager will have allocated seats for you on the main coach in advance, taking into consideration any special requests wherever possible, and will advise you where to sit as you board the coach. This will be your seat for the duration of the tour. (Seats are not allocated on any connecting services to and from the main coach).
Joining your holiday
Your final travel documents, including the exact time and place of departure, will be sent to you approximately ten days prior to departure, providing all payments have been made. We are unable to give exact departure times before this.
Where meals are not included, your Tour Manager will ensure there are suitable stops made for you to purchase and enjoy lunch and/or dinner each day.
If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.
The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair or electric scooter, please let us know as soon as possible so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
Optional shore excursions
Optional excursions are available on all cruises, and we recommend that you book now to secure your place. If the number of bookings needed to operate any excursion is not reached, the excursion may be cancelled. In this case your payment will be refunded in full.
Tipping is not compulsory, but from experience we know that many passengers like to leave gratuities for the crew. An envelope will be left in your cabin for this purpose.
The dress code on board and ashore is casual. After 7pm, in the lounge and restaurant, shorts are not permitted, and footwear and a shirt or T-shirt must be worn.
Where possible, non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin.
The tap water on board is safe to drink, but may not be to your taste due to the purification system. Bottled water can be purchased on board and locally.
On rare occasions, the Captain may need to alter the Cruise Itinerary. If this happens, the Cruise Manager will keep passengers informed.
