Linden Homes, based on Bartram Road in Southampton scooped the coveted title of Housebuilder of the Year at the glittering Building Awards ceremony in London.

Group managing director Ian Baker picked up the prestigious prize to add even more silverware to the thriving company’s trophy cabinet after collecting a series of awards last year.

The judges from Building magazine praised Linden Homes for its “remarkable step change in performance” and “incredibly focused” team, as it was hailed the industry’s best during a successful night at the Grosvenor House Hotel.

The multi-award winning housebuilder was recognised for its winning formula in achieving strong growth and exceptional financial results despite a challenging market.

It performed well against the awards criteria which included sales, sustainability and customer satisfaction.

Ian Baker said: “We are delighted with winning this major award which highlights our competitive edge as a business.

“Not only have we performed strongly based on our strategy to focus on the south of the business, but Linden Homes’ individual design, approach to sustainability and outstanding customer service also continue to gain recognition.”

Linden Homes was also shortlisted for Housing Project of the Year for its Kingston Mills development, and jointly with Affinity Sutton and the Homes & Communities Agency for the largest zero-carbon scheme in the country at Graylingwell Park, Chichester.

Trophies it won last year included Best Design in the Housebuilder Awards for its Two Coves development in Cornwall, and Best Large Housing Development in the LABC National Awards for Pheonix Quay, Plymouth.
