Local agent with community at its heart
Pearsons is pleased to be supporting Winchester City Mill in their efforts to raise essential funds needed for urgent repairs following damage sustained during flooding in 2014.
The Mill, owned and maintained by the National Trust dates back over a thousand years and is the oldest working watermill in Britain. The damage done by the flooding means that £150,000 needs to be raised by June in order to prevent this much loved building from being closed.
Steve Weller, Director at Pearsons in Winchester explains:
“This ancient mill is very much a part of our local history and speaking to our colleagues and clients, I know how strongly it is felt that we should pull out all the stops as a community to try to keep the mill open. It plays a vital role locally with children learning about the part that mills such as this played in the community centuries ago and it makes history come alive for them when they see for themselves wheat being ground and collecting the flour at the end of the process.
“The Mill will be hosting several events over the coming months, details of which can be found on their website. Here at Pearsons we will be making a donation to this wonderful cause and we are also holding a coffee and cake morning to raise additional funds. This is where you come in!
“We would be very pleased to see you here at our newly refurbished office on Southgate Street. Please join us for coffee and cake on Thursday 23 March 11:00am – 2:00pm and if you can, make a donation to this fantastic cause.”
