ADRIAN Rose is looking to get into care work and is hoping somebody will give him his first role in the industry The 23-year-old from Bitterne, Southampton, previously attended Hounsdown School in Totton and gained nine GCSEs, three at grade C and above.

“A job is the most important priority for me and I would also like to work in retail,” he said.

“With Christmas temporary jobs coming up I’ve been trying to apply for places like Argos. It’s a foot in the door at the moment. But it’s hard out there, it really is.

Since leaving school Adrian has worked at a petrol station on nights for one-and-a-half years and says he enjoyed that.

He moved onto daytime agency work but those temporary positions in warehouses loading up trucks for deliveries have dried up since the end of June.

He said: “It’s not as if I’m uneducated but when you can’t get a job it makes you worry a lot.”
