• VUE Entertainment, in association with BBC Worldwide, is to screen the special 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who on the big screen – and in stunning 3D – at its cinemas nationwide tomorrow, simultaneously with the broadcast on BBC One.

In addition to Matt Smith, pctured, and Jenna Coleman, the one-off 75- minute special, entitled The Day of the Doctor, stars former Time Lord David Tennant as well as Billie Piper and John Hurt.

In this special event to celebrate the iconic British drama series, thousands of fans are expected to attend screenings of the Doctor’s 50th Anniversary at cinemas in the UK and many countries around the world, where they can enjoy the episode and specially shot introductions for theatrical audiences.

  • André Rieu’s spectacular Christmas Concert Home for Christmas was screened last year with great success, and by popular demand is returning to cinemas across the UK with special Live features on Sunday at 3pm.

The broadcast will include a live satellite tour of André’s Castle conducted by André himself and an interactive Q&A exclusively for cinema audiences.

The Home for Christmas programme is filmed primarily at Rieu’s house, a romantic medieval castle in his hometown of Maastricht in The Netherlands.

Together with his Johann Strauss Orchestra, soloists and choir, André performs 26 holiday classics in his snowy, beautifully decorated garden and Saint Pieter Church across the street from his home.

Relaxing by his fireplace, André tells a Christmas tale and shares with the audience how he celebrates Christmas at home.

Home for Christmas includes special guest performances by The Royal Choir Society Mastreechter Staar, The Sjamaes Children’s Choir and ten year old ballerina Rosa.

The romantic celebration of Christmas, ranges from Christmas classics to emotional ballads.

The screening is at both Cineworld and Odeon in Southampton.
