THE epic new Nelson Mandela film enjoys two exclusive preview screenings at Southampton’s Harbour Lights Picturehouse on Boxing Day.
Mandela’s (Idris Elba) sense of injustice found its voice when he was a young lawyer taking part in nonviolent protest, but his activism of course led to 27 years of imprisonment for sedition against the apartheid regime.
His politicisation was partly driven by his wife, Winnie (Naomie Harris), and director Justin Chadwick spotlights that relationship while not shying away from the controversies that it generated.
The screenings of Long Walk to Freedom are at 2.30pm and 5.45pm.
