AN exciting new season of free Thursday night film screenings launches this week at Winchester Discovery Centre.

On Thursday, WDC joins Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Oscar Winner Anne Hathaway for Les Miserables, the 2012 musical filmed partly in Hampshire.

Blade Runner – Final Cut is the definitive 2007 version of Ridley Scott’s majestic futurenoir, not to be missed on the big screen on February 6.

The Charles Darwin biopic Creation, first released in 2009, will be screened on March 20 in association with The Hampshire Skeptics Society. The season ends on April 3 with a classic by the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. North by North West, starring Cary Grant, is a wonderful thriller with some of the most memorable scenes in cinematic history.

The Discovery Centre also has a series of accessible screenings coming up of Shakespeare in Love, X-Men and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which are specially for people with learning difficulties and their carers.

All screenings are free and start at 8pm.
