LANTERNS in every shape and size will light up the city on Thursday.
As lantern-bearers gather in the Great Hall at 5pm, and spectators begin to line the streets, 50s band The Cadillacs will start to entertain in the Outer Close (Cathedral Grounds), introduced by Wave FM DJ Simon Clarke, all from a specially installed ‘Proms in the Park’ type stage.
The parade itself, including everything from penguins to snowmen and aeroplanes to rockets, leaves the Great Hall at 6pm.
As it makes its way down the full length of the city centre and back up to the Cathedral Close, the entertainment continues and then, at around 7pm, prizes will be given, with The Cadillacs returning to the stage until 8.30pm.
