BUTTERFLY World and Fountain World is a great attraction for this time of year.
As it’s indoors and warm – butterflies like don’t like to be chilly – it doesn’t matter what the weather is like but as it’s large and bright it also gives you the feel of being outside – good news if you aren’t ready to settle down to it being autumn just yet.
The butterfly house itself is pretty impressive. It has a good range of butterflies including some pretty big ones and is a good size – not a glorified shed like some I’ve visited!
You can wander round it and take a rest on the various benches to enjoy the butterflies as well as the attractive and well-kept plants and even birds.
The attraction also includes Fountain World. This is one of those Isle of Wight idiosyncrasies it’s hard to imagine existing elsewhere.
It feels a bit like a garden centre where there isn’t actually anything for sale but again it gives you the chance to wander round somewhere that’s indoors but has an outdoorsy feel and if fountains are your thing you’ll love it.
The route then takes you through Small World. This darkened room features several tableaux of miniature figures.
I can imagine children loving it but clown phobics may be rather disturbed by the clown band!
After this you find yourself in Jumping Jets – this features more fountains and again is one for the children, with the chance to run under fountains and get wet.
Your journey brings you back to Butterfly World, which is by far the most impressive of the attractions.
This is a great family attraction – it fits that time-honoured bill of having something for everyone, is unaffected by the recently dismal British weather and is affordable too!
