In Romsey… ROMSEY and District Modellers Society is staging its annual exhibition tomororow and Sunday between 10am and 4pm.

There will be various track layouts at the exhibition, at Crossfield Hall.

At the University of Winchester… Leading the line-up for Fairtrade Fortnight is the lecture, The Cooperative – tackling global poverty, on Wednesday at the University’s West Downs Centre.

It will be given by Helen Carter, owner of ‘Fair’s Fayre’, a successful Fairtrade food and crafts shop at the Fairground Craft and Design Centre, Weyhill, near Andover.

Other Fairtrade events include a Fairtrade Gala Dinner,also on Wednesday. The menu for the event has been specially designed, using Fairtrade and locally-sourced food by former Hampshire Chef of the Year,Andy McKenzie from Lainston House Hotel in collaboration with the Catering Department at the University of Winchester.

At Osborne House… WITH the promise of spring just around the corner Osborne House on the Isle of Wight has a glorious garden workshop on offer in early March.

On Tuesday, garden enthusiasts can enjoy a plant propagation workshop with head gardener, Toby Beasley.

The workshop will offer a hands on demonstration of the various techniques employed within Osborne’s glasshouses and propagation facilities to produce plants from seeds and cuttings.

He will also look at the different composts used and the tools needed for the job.

Participants can try their hand at taking cuttings and sowing seeds to take away and grow on at home.

At Southampton Solent University… A CELEBRATION of the music business has grown from its low-key beginnings as Solent Music Industries Live Event (SMILE), to a ten day festival.

Until March 10, music minded students will be producing, promoting and performing live gigs at music venues across the city, and some of the industry’s top players will be sharing their knowledge and skills with those wanting to carve out a career in the music industries.

This weekend, venues and spaces across Southampton will play host to the SMILE Fringe, a community and arts focused event producing a programme of music, art, film, comedy events and workshops.

On Monday, super group Producers – Lol Creme (10cc), Trevor Horn (legendary British producer and Solent Visiting Fellow), Stephen Lipson (Frankie goes to Hollywood, Grace Jones) and human drum machine Ash Soan (Adele, Robbie Williams) – will take to the Solent stage for a student Q&A session followed by a live evening performance. This exciting new collective have scored over 200 hit singles and albums over the last 40 years.

In Fareham… GET stocked up with good local food to feed the family in West Street tomorrow.

Up to 40 local producers will be selling the best of their produce directly to customers – everything from freshly picked organic fruit and vegetables to free range eggs, from fish from local waters to rare breed meats, from home-baked bread and cakes to the honey made from local bees.
