At Sandy Balls Holiday Centre… Southampton Hospital Charity invites the whole family to put on their running shoes for its annual Family Fun Run on Sunday.

With the starting gun at 11am, participants are invited to run or walk the 5km course.

Among those who have signed up to take part are 39-year old leukaemia survivor Jeremy Clifton and his two children, Heather aged ten and nine-year-old Sam. Jeremy received a bone marrow transplant at Southampton General Hospital in 2005 after been diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia. Six years later he was chosen to represent Britain at the 2011 World Transplant Games in Sweden, bringing home five medals. Working in partnership with Glorious Goodwood, the three day event inspired by a day at the races will showcase the latest collections from some of Gunwharf Quays’ top fashion outlets to help inspire shoppers with the latest trends and offers.

A vintage fashion show kicks the event off tonight with catwalks taking place every hour tomorrow and on Sunday. Gunwharf Quays will also be welcoming fashion expert and stylist JP Hevey who will be on hand to give colour and style advice at free drop-in sessions over the weekend.

The ‘Love Southsea’ boutique market will also be showcasing a collection of wonderful items in Central Square where shoppers will discover antiques, hand-made jewellery and unique clothing.

While catching fish in the College’s lake, trying your hand at archery, clay and air rifle shooting or being hoisted up a tree by arboriculture students, visitors will get a taste of what makes Sparsholt one of the country’s leading land-based colleges. The Equine Centre will be running displays throughout the day and the renowned Horticulture Department will have plant sales, a ‘build-a-garden’ competition and the famous BBC Radio 4 Gardener’s Question Time garden and potting shed will be open.

n At The Hovercraft Museum, Lee-on-the Solent… Participating in the Museums at Night Festival tomorrow, visitors will have the chance to discover these eccentric machines of transport in a lighted display not normally seen by the public!

Under the shelter of hangars, you can explore craft of all shapes and sizes which span the history of this Great British invention. Step outside and gaze at the foreboding sight of floodlit cross-channel hovercraft with their giant propellers looming high overhead – and witness our unique ‘Twin Prop’ SSR.N6 illuminated like never before!
