A STALWART of education, who managed centres across the county, has died aged 72.
Robert (Bob) Goodman, of Flackwell Heath, died suddenly last Friday.
During his life, Mr Goodman ran Wycombe College and Huntercombe Manor, Taplow, when it was an education centre, before running Missenden Abbey Management Centre from 1982 until his retirement in 1992.
Mr Goodman kept up his interest in education by being a governor at Juniper Hill School, Flackwell Heath.
Headteacher Paul Gandridge said: "All the governors were shocked and dismayed to hear of his death and everyone will have fond memories of Bob."
He added: "Bob made a tremendous contribution to Juniper Hill and his care and concern for others shone through. We will miss him enormously as a person and as someone who was so willing to give freely of his time to improve the well-being of other people."
Mr Goodman was also an adviser for CAB, president of Maidenhead Synagogue and chairman of Flackwell Heath Community centre.
His wife, Ruth, 72, said he was a wonderful person and a wonderful husband. She said: "He was very good at dealing with people's problems and he could make people feel good. He was on many committees and he could sort out all the problems. Somehow, he could make people feel at peace. He was a lovely person."
The couple were married for 50 years and celebrated their Golden Wedding in July.
They had two sons, David and Peter, and six grandchildren.
The funeral of Mr Goodman was held at Maidenhead Cemetery yesterday.
