THERE are now just 22 days remaining on our countdown until the end of the world.

According to believers in the ancient Mayan calendar, December 21 will signal the end of planet Earth – a planet once dominated by Britain.

In fact, there are only 22 countries that this nation has not invaded in its history.

So, with the seconds continuing to tick away, there’s just about time to right some wrongs and create our own tourist invasion.

Somewhat surprisingly, there are a host of exotic locations on the list in which you can spend your final days.

Day trips to Sweden, Bolivia, Paraguay and the Democratic Republic of Congo could all be on the itinerary, should you take up the latest challenge on the Daily Echo’s bucket list.

There’s the opportunity to visit the religious homeland of Vatican City, to take in the world famous St Peter’s Basilica and marvel at its picturesque square.

And you’ll also have a trip to Monaco on the agenda, for a chance to gamble away those now worthless life savings.

Just remember, if you hit the blackjack tables, the magic number won’t be 22.
