SOUTHAMPTON singer Calum Lintott is buzzing for his set at Isle of Wight Festival after a surprise taste of the big time at this year’s Common People.

The former Brother Goose frontman, who plays the Jack Rocks This Feeling stage at the Island festival, made a hastily arranged appearance on the main stage at the city’s huge music event after rapper Nadia Rose was held up in traffic.

“I’d finished my set in the Joiners’ tent and saw about 50 missed calls,” Calum told The Daily Echo.

“Eventually festival management explained I was needed on the main stage. I didn’t believe them, but within seconds I was being shuttled across the field in a golf buggy. There was no time to think about songs and I don’t play much acoustic now so I had to wing it, but it worked and everyone seemed to love it.”

Now Calum and band mates – guitarists and brothers Tom and Sam Bennett, drummer Moritz Krie and guitarist Laurence Henderson - can’t wait to join the other exciting new names in music at the Isle of Wight.

“I’ve been to the festival every year since I was 16 as a punter and played a DJ set there last year, so this is another dream come true. I’ll definitely be on call again for any last minute shows on their big stages too!”

Calum Lintott joins headliners The Wytches and Superfood on the Jack Rocks This Feeling stage in Newport from June 8 to 11. More at isleofwightfestival.com
