SCORES of new jobs are heading to Hampshire thanks to the opening of a new burger restaurant in a city shopping centre.

The Handmade Burger Company is getting ready to fire up its grills later this month as the latest addition to WestQuay's dining area.

It's arrival, which is bringing 30 new jobs to the city, has been made possible thanks to a £400,000 investment from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking.

Chris Sargeant, owner of The Handmade Burger Company, said: “Southampton is a vibrant and exciting new market for us, and we're delighted to continue our expansion by opening this outlet in the city.

“We have enjoyed rapid growth since opening our very first restaurant in 2006, and through this investment we look forward to taking our brand into a variety of new locations in the UK.”

WestQuay dining has also welcomed a new Subway, which is already feeding hungry shoppers.
