THE new proprietors of a popular fish and chip shop are offering better batter for customers with food allergies.

Lee and Bev Nicholson, new owners of Charlie’s fish and chip shop in Bitterne Triangle, are offering a glutenfree option for people who love their fish in batter but can’t eat it because of an intolerance to wheat in the flour.

“A close friend of ours, Simon Mason, who helped get the shop ready, can’t eat gluten and I know a lot of people are going down this route for health reasons,” said Lee.

Daily Echo:

The couple re-opened Charlie’s this week after it had been shut for three weeks.

The business was previously owned by Gloria and Malcolm Pascoe, who moved on after ten and a half years to focus on another business.

Lee has worked in fish and chip shops for 24 years, having started part-time as a 14-year-old at Goodies in Totton, but this is the first time he had been his own boss.
