Revolution Software has today launched a funding campaign through Kickstarter, in a bid to raise cash for a brand new Broken Sword game.

The fifth game in the series, titled Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse , reunites everyone’s favourite multinational point and click duo George Stobbart and Nico Collard.

Although some may think the series went off the boil slightly, gamers can be happy in the knowledge that the original team of Broken Sword developers are back together for this new adventure. Not only that but the game will be a return to 2D – like the original titles that many of us fell in love with.

“The process of game development has previously been remote from our fans,” says Charles Cecil, managing director, Revolution Software. “By self publishing, we now have a direct relationship with our audience – a position that we value enormously.”

“We’re delighted that the latest Broken Sword title is to be the first of our adventures that we can take with our fans. By pledging support now, we’ll be going on a journey which will end when the opening credits roll – it’s going to be excellent.”

“Crucially, Kickstarter support will enable us to create – for the very first time – an adventure game with total creative freedom.”

All manner of pledges are welcome, and anything above $15 will bag the donor a copy of the game upon its release. There are plenty of other rewards available for those who are willing to splash a little more cash.

Revolution are hoping to raise $400,000 by September 22, so head on over to their project and place your pledge .
