Although I always kind of enjoyed UFC games, they were always a million miles from being a good quality mainstream game. Back in the day that Royce Gracie was the main man and the rules were pretty much non-existent, the videogames were as raw and as gritty as the fights themselves.
But now that UFC really has hit the big time and is as popular as ever, it would seem as though the videogame series may also have turned around. Using a new engine developed specifically for use on next generation consoles, each and every devastating blow hits home with unparalleled skin rippling and visible damage.
In order to beat the opponent and become the champion of the Octagon, players need to utilise and master a wide variety of martial arts disciplines like Muay Thai, Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
There is of course the obligatory ‘create a player’ mode which gives people the opportunity to create their own fighter and then have them punch, kick and grapple their way through an often blood laden career.
UFC has come out fighting like it never has before – Undisputed is strong, tough and will take a hell of a beating.
