A POPULAR autumn event set to take place in Southampton tomorrow has been cancelled due to expected bad weather.

The Autumn Festival at Oasis Down to Earth Farm, which was due to take place from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, October 21, has been called off due to Storm Brian.

The city farm is surrounded by large trees and organisers are concerned that it could be dangerous.

The event was due to feature craft activities, live music, a scarecrow competition, a pumpkin sale and craft stalls.

It is an important date in the calendar of the city farm, which is a charity, and was expected to attract hundreds of visitors.

As well as giving people the chance to enjoy the farm, events like the Autumn Festival are important in raising funds for the farm, which go towards running activities and events for adults with learning difficulties, school and community group visits, looking after the animals and the general upkeep of the farm.

A smaller mini festival is due to take place on Tuesday afternoon as a replacement.

It will run from noon to 4pm and will feature a pop-up cafe selling cakes and pumpkin soup, face painting, a scarecrow competition, a plant and pumpkin sale, monster trail and children's craft activities.

Entry will be priced at £2 for adults and £1 for children.

Further information about the farm can be found by searching for Oasis Down to Earth Farm on Facebook.
