HAMPSHIRE teenage singing sensation Birdy released her second album this week. The 17-year-old from Lymington, real name Jasmine Vanden Bogaerde, has proved a huge hit since releasing her self-titled debut, which gave her a Top 20 hit aged just 14, in 2011.

Entitled Fire Within, the second album features all-original material with tracks Birdy has written herself. Nicole Gallagher has a listen...

THE soft and angelic vocals of her 14-year-old self won her a rightful place in the charts and now three years later, Birdy is releasing her second album, still humming moving and untainted tearjerkers.

The critically-acclaimed songstress has penned all the tracks on her new album, with a maturity that translates to those of us well past the tender age of 17.

Light Me Up provides a reprieve from the haunting and innocent love songs across Fire Within, and may surprise fans – but it does go without saying that a large part of the album is taken up by soft piano ballads and painfully beautiful songs like Wings.

The young singer-songwriter’s last album of covers catapulted into the charts worldwide, but what happens when she releases an album full of her own tracks is even more enchanting and spellbinding.
