IT influenced a generation and is one of the most enduring contributions to the American pop music industry.

Two superstars from the Motown sound era are to share the stage at Eastleigh’s Concorde Club.

They are singer/actress Kaaren Ragland, a former member of The Supremes, and Louis Price of Temptations and Drifters fame.

Kaaren went on to found The Sounds of The Supremes in 1989, with whom she has appeared in more than 50 countries.

After the success of their 2012 UK concert tour the trio, which includes Katy Merrick and Althea Burkhalter, are returning with a month-long round of gigs.

And they have picked the Stoneham Lane club for a soul night special on Friday, May 9.

Billed as Motor City Memories, they will be singing all the hits from the iconic record company ’ s golden years.

The special guest is L o u i s Price, who will be performing in the UK for the first time since the mid 1980s, when he left The Drifters to follow a solo career.

He was also a former lead singer with The Temptations.

  • Soul fans are also in for another treat when the Edwin Starr Band check into the Concorde on Friday, April 18.

America soul singer Edwin Starr died just over ten years ago, but his rich musical legacy continues through his original seven piece band, The Team.

It includes Edwin’s brother and original guitarist Angelo Starr as lead vocalist. He worked alongside Edwin throughout his career.

The Concorde show will recapture those disco fever years with chart topping Edwin Starr hits like War, 25 Miles, SOS Stop Her On Sight, Happy Radio and Eye to Eye Contact.
