OASIS manager Marcus Russell will join a celebration in Southampton today of the 20th anniversary of the band’s debut album Definitely Maybe.
Part of Southampton Solent University’s SMILE Festival of music and the music industries, the conference day plays host to music industry guests and a few special surprises.
In the year that the classic album receives a re-release and rumours abound that Oasis might reform for a tour, the event includes an appearance from the co-founder of Ignition Management, which manages both Oasis and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
There will also be a panel discussion about the enduring success and influence of both Oasis’ Definitely Maybe, and the work of the band Nirvana, 20 years after lead singer Kurt Cobain’s untimely death. The panel will include renowned music journalist Keith Cameron alongside XFM DJ John Kennedy and the band manager and All Tomorrow’s Parties resident DJ Declan Allen.
