AFTER playing American festivals and hometown venues a Southampton band is calling it a day after 14 years touring.

Six-piece pop/rock band Dlugokecki (pronounced Der-loo-go-ken-ski) will take to the stages of The Vestry and The Talking Heads for the final time later this year – and hope to go out with a bang.

“We wrote and recorded three albums over a two-year period,” singer/songwriter Ben Dlugokecki explains.

“I wrote everything in my canon in those three years – love, loss and being a new dad. I feel I’ve written all my songs for now.”

The front-man is joined by Andy Wild, keys and vocals, Boyd, drums, Tim Jackson, guitar, Aidan Hampson, bass, and Kelly Robinson, backing vocals.

They have played alongside the likes of Passenger, Snow Patrol, David Gray and Corrine Bailey Rae and their music has featured on Channel Four and its cult soap Hollyoaks.

In 2009 they played South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas, where they supported The Proclaimers.

“They were a bit annoyed as we had more interviews lined up than them,” Andy Wild confessed.

Last year they released Forty-Eight: Part 2 alongside new single We Are Loved and completed their 11th annual Xmas Xtravaganza.

Drummer Boyd explains the split: “We all met the next day, with sore heads! It was an amazing gig, one of our best, and we all decided that we may never better it. We decided then and there to plan our final curtain call.”

Their adventure together will come to an end with two special shows dubbed The Final Two.

On October 12 they will hit the stage with their two-part show of their best songs at The Vestry.

They will then play an epic three-hour set at The Talking Heads on December 13.
