FRESH from supporting ska legends The Specials, Finnish punk outfit The Scenes are ready to tear up Southampton tonight.

The six-piece, which drescribe themselves as a "rock/indie/punk/experimental band", return to The Joiners in St Mary Street following an explosive first show supporting Bo Ningen earlier this year.

Frontman Konsta Koivisto told the Daily Echo he cannot get back onto the stage at the city's famous venue.

He said: "I am really excited and cannot wait to go.

"It's great we are touring again and it is a great honour to play with The Specials. We were so happy to support them and it was a big opportunity.

"The UK is a place where great music is born."

The band formed in Oulu, northern Finald, in 2009, and released their debut album Images of Animals Crying in Public in April 2013.

Their follow-up album Beige was released last month to widespread praise.

Konsta, who also works as a painter and a sculptor under the name KONST, has been hailed as a "potential superstar" and The Scenes' live performances are gaining a mayhem-fuelled reputation.

Konsta added: "The last time we were in Southampton we had a great time.

"It was a really intimate gig and there were lots of people there.

"We are really into art, which is the greatest influence for us. But also bands like Radiohead, Manic Street Preachers, and Joy Division are great bands and influences.

"When we are composing our songs or doing new stuff, it's about observing the world and everytime we try to put different styles into our music.

"I cannot work in an office - I have to do just music or art.

"We are not touring to make fashionable music. It's more like expressionism."

The Scenes play at The Joiners in St Mary Street tonight. Tickets are available from http://joiners.vticket.co.uk/.
