THE CRIBS made a name for themselves as one of the most energetic acts on the circuit following their formation more than a decade ago.

Thankfully this tag shows no sign of fading away as the Wakefield brothers treated the Wedgewood Rooms crowd to a blistering set full of fan favourites and new material.

The trio opened with Mirror Kissers from their second album The New Fellas before a storming rendition of An Ivory Hand from their new album For All My Sisters.

Finally Free, Burning for No-One and Pink Snow suggest their new effort, which is released in March, sticks to the widely-loved formula of melodic punk and anthemic choruses.

However it’s the efforts from their critically acclaimed 2007 album Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever that bring the house down.

The Portsmouth crowd clung to every word from the Jarman brothers Gary and Ryan as they belted out Our Bovine Public, I’m a Realist, and the gig highlight Men’s Needs.

It was a treat to see The Cribs in a relatively small venue like the Wedgewood Rooms considering their huge pulling power, and it was no surprise the show was a complete sell out.

This was a gig that will live long in the memory of those that were there.
