CHARITIES on the Isle of Wight have the chance to apply for tickets for the island’s biggest music festival this year and help those in need.

A ballot opens today on the Isle of Wight festival website giving charities across the island the chance to snap up 25 pairs of tickets worth £10,000 and promote their good cause at Seaclose Park from June 11 to 14.

This new initiative continues the support the festival has given over the years to not only charities, but also schools, sports teams and musicians on the Isle of Wight.

Organisations have until March 27 to apply with a brief explanation of what they intend to do with the tickets for the benefit of their charity.

Festival tickets have been donated to several charities over the years including Cancer Research UK, Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy, British Red Cross, the Ellen MacArthur Trust, the Anthony Nolan Trust and Make A Wish.

This year sees The Prodigy, The Black Keys, Fleetwood Mac, Pharrell Williams and Paolo Nutini among the headliners for the 14th annual festival.
