FOLLOWING a huge response to the I Want to Play at Common People competition, which saw more than 100 Hampshire-based acts enter for the chance to perform at the inaugural Common People festival, a panel of music experts have whittled down entries to the final ten.

Now the finalists will perform across two nights – Tuesday, March 10 and Sunday, March 22 – at The Joiners, with the best act from each night securing their place on the first ever line-up.

Daily Echo:

Common People curator Rob da Bank said: “It’s been really exciting listening to all the incredible talent that Hampshire has to offer, and now the Common People team are really looking forward to checking all of these out, live at The Joiners, one of our favourite music venues.

“The quality of entrants for this competition has been really high, there’s plenty of great stuff coming through the ranks, which bodes well for the live scene in the area for a long time to come. So, whichever of these bands are lucky enough to win sets at Common People, you can guarantee that they’ll do us all proud”.

Tuesday, March 10 will see The Ohmz, The Novatones, Palms And Pelicans and Bel Esprit vying for a coveted set at Common People, Bestival’s brand new, two-day metropolitan shindig, while Sunday, March 22 finalists are The Costellos, The Arrivals, Ben Goddard, Damn Beats, LST and Tenderlore.

  • Tickets for each final, which take place from 6.30pm to 10.30pm, cost £3.00 and are on sale now from The Joiners.
