IT’S a once in a lifetime audition that could see your dreams of chart domination alongside the likes of One Direction and Leona Lewis become a reality.

Whether you have ambitions of topping charts like Olly Murs, pictured below, or are a band aiming to take the world by storm like JLS – today Hampshire’s budding singing superstars could take one step closer to hitting the big time.

The X Factor is rolling into Southampton today and queues of aspiring pop stars are expected to emerge at the city’s WestQuay shopping centre as they bid for stardom.

The hit ITV1 reality show has embarked on its biggest ever audition tour and those in the city have not one but two chances to impress.

As previously reported, singers have been signing up for the Open Mic auditions taking place at The 1865 tomorrow where the shows production team will be on the lookout for the next Alexandra Burke or Little Mix.

But today the show’s audition pod will park itself in WestQuay, from 9am until 6pm, where hopefuls can try their luck as part of the X Factor Mobile Audition tour.

Unlike the open auditions hitting the bigger cities around the UK, the mobile tour sees singers on a first come, first served basis, so those hoping to give it a go are urged to turn up early to grab a slot.

All any budding hopefuls need to do is turn up and if they impress the X Factor team with their vocals, they will then be in with a chance of auditioning in front of the X Factor judges, when the judges’ auditions take place in the summer.

Who the judges will be is still a closely guarded secret, but after speculation that Louis Walsh has been axed from the panel, Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw and one Direction’s Louis Tomlinson have both been tipped as possible replacements.

There has already been a shake-up to the next series, with presenter Dermot O’Leary moving on and replaced by former contestant Olly Murs and Caroline Flack.

The X Factor creator Simon Cowell said: “The X Factor is coming back and, if you think you have the potential to be a world-class star, this is your chance to prove it. You really could be the next pop superstar.”

To date One Direction have sold more than 50 million records, Olly Murs has achieved double platinum success, Little Mix have sold 1.3 million albums and Ella Henderson had the fastest selling UK female single debut of the year with Ghost.
