IT MIGHT be the once-in-a-lifetime chance that could see you rocketed into superstardom, hitting the top of the charts and singing to millions across the world.

Next week The Voice is coming to Southampton as they begin their search for the next crop of singing sensations to get the coaches famous red chairs spinning.

Whether you fancy yourself as the next Rita Ora or think you have the star talent of Will.I.am, then this showcase to get your foot in the door could be the chance you have been waiting for.

It comes exactly a week after X Factor rolled into town, looking for the city’s best talent, which saw more than 50 people take part in the open auditions in West Quay.

One of the BBC1 shows production team will be visiting Southampton on Wednesday, hunting for the city’s very best singing talent.

They will be meeting and greeting local wannabes who are eager to find out more about the show, its process and how to apply.

Although this will not be a formal audition, singers will be asked to perform a song, with or without a backing track, which will be recorded and taken back to the show’s bosses for consideration.

The team are keen to hear from both soloists and duo who believe they have the power to get the chairs of coaches Rita, Ricky, Will.I.am and singing legend Sir Tom Jones, turning.

The event will take place at the University of Southampton’s Clubs and Societies room, which is on level 2 of building 42, from 11am.

Hopefuls will get all the information they need for registering for the open auditions being held this summer, while their performances will give the show bosses a heads up on who to look out for when thousands descend on those auditions.

They are all hoping to follow in the footsteps of this year’s winner Stevie McCrorie, pictured, who was mentored by Ricky Wilson.

Daily Echo:

Amy Green, from The Voice team, said: “We hope that the singing talent of Southampton will take this opportunity to shine and show us what they have got."

“We are on the hunt for people with a fantastic voice. Whether you’re a solo artist or duo, if you’ve got what it takes to get our coaches chairs spinning, we want to hear from you.”

Anyone who applies for the show must be 16 years of age or older by June 17, 2015, and must have the right to live and work in the UK for over 20 hours per week.

All singers must book a timeslot for the day. To book a timeslot for the day email amy.green@walltowall.co.uk. If you are under 18, you must bring a parent/guardian with you.
