THEY may not be the best known act at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival, but they have certainly earned their place as tonight’s co-headliners.

American duo The Black Keys take the stage sometime around 8.30pm bringing their flavour of blues rock to Seaclose Park.

Formed in Ohio in 2001, they spent a decade receiving widespread critical acclaim before breaking through into the wider spotlight with sixth studio album Brothers in 2010.

With Brothers the duo won three Grammy Awards and have not looked back since, gaining an ever-growing following in the UK that has seen improved album performances year on year, with most recent effort Turn Blue hitting the number two spot on the UK album chart while hitting the top spot in America and Australia.

Although they are making their first appearance at the festival this year, they are no strangers to the good people of the south coast, having played with Southampton’s Band of Skulls on previous world tours.

And they provide a perfect foil for fellow headliner The Prodigy, giving the thousands of revellers a chance to sit back and enjoy the music before the latter hit the stage sometime after 10pm for what is sure to be a raucous end to the night.
