FOLLOWING last year’s successful tour, Oliver’s Army singer Elvis Costello is heading for Southampton next week.

His 21-date UK solo tour arrives at Southampton O2 Guildhall on Friday, June 19.

And there is a date at The Anvil, Basingstoke, on Friday June 26.

The New York Times said of his solo Carnegie Hall debut in June 2014: “Costello offered something else: a continuing, challenging, intimate engagement with his songs, old and new”.

Costello’s solo shows have been some of the most adventurous of his career. This past year has seen him hit the stage of the legendary Paris venue, l‘Olympia and the Bela Bartok National concert Hall in Budapest.

Last year he toured the capital cities and small towns of Europe for five weeks.

The critics have penned some glowing reviews:

  • ‘His ability to conjure period as much as emotion is what commands a show like this’ The Independent
  • ‘The singer’s maturing voice takes his songs to even greater heights’ The Arts Desk
  • ‘He remains a giddy and exuberant force in live music’ The Herald.
