THE musical legacy continues ... The Drifters are back and play Ferneham Hall tonight.

With over 65 members in 62 years the musical brand is still going strong.

Following huge success on their world tours they are back with The Rebranded Tour that is being hailed as ‘the best yet.’ The Drifters have seen massive chart success on both sides of the Atlantic and across the world. With over 114 million album sales, 214 million singles sales and a vast catalogue of hits, the dynasty continues.

The current line-up have rebranded the Drifters with new releases on both of their former labels, Atlantic Records in 2009 and Sony Music in 2011.

This concert reflects on the brand through the decades with a two-hour show of wall to wall hits and some lesser known back catalogue songs.

It features over 37 original tracks and popular new songs from the recent album La Vie et La’amour.

The world tour runs through to the end of the year with dates in most cities across the UK.

Further dates will be taking place in Europe, Australasia, Asia before a return to the USA in late Autumn.

The Drifters were founded in June 1953 by George Treadwell and Ahmet Ertegun – founder of Atlantic Records.

Since their creation the band has featured over 65 vocalists, including icons such as Clyde McPhatter, Ben E King and Johnny Moore.

Some of the legends returned to perform alongside the current line-up at a unique concert at the O2 arena in 2009.

The Drifters performed to over 100,000 people in the UK alone last year.

The group has evolved musically through the years to stay ahead of musical trends.

There have been numerous musical reincarnations of the group from doo wop to rock ‘n’ roll and on to disco right through to the more recent musical reinvention of the group with brand new contemporary material.

The current line-up perform all of the historic genres of music stamped with the group’s authentic signature four part harmonies and sound.

With new contemporary material loved by the fans they will also perform The Whole World, a song written for the group by Ronan Keating.
