UB40 have announced they will play Portsmouth Guildhall on October 21.

With over forty UK Top 40 hit singles and sales of over 100 million records they are one of the most successful British groups of all-time.

And they are back on the road playing their history of hits once again - and no doubt tracks from their latest Top 30 album Getting Over The Storm. The album was awarded BBC Radio 2's 'Album Of The Week' accolade and received 5-star reviews from the UK's music press on its release in September 2013.

UB40 had more than 50 singles in the UK Singles Chart, including huge hits like Red Red Wine, One in Ten, Can’t Help Falling In Love, Breakfast in Bed and Many Rivers to Cross.

Of course in 2008 the band’s line-up changed after 30 years with Ali Campbell and later Mickey Virtue and Astro all leaving. They now perform on their own and recently played the Isle of Wight Festival.

Duncan Campbell has replaced his brother Ali Campbell on vocals and Tony Mullings has also come into the fold. Seven years on the band is still going strong. The five remaining ‘founding’ members of the band include all the songwriters.

The band's Brian Travers said there had never been any doubt that UK40 would continue when Ali left.

"All that changed was the vocalist, and having Duncan in the wings felt incredibly refreshing. Duncan has sung all his life like all the Campbells and he enjoys life on the road, he likes to laugh and party. I’ve always believed that good vocal chords run in families just like big ears and bald heads."

The UB40 line-up is: Robin Campbell - Guitar & Vocals, Brian Travers - Saxophone, Earl Falconer - Bass Guitar, James Brown - Drums, Norman Hassan - Percussion, Trombone and Vocals, and Duncan Campbell - Vocals.
