HAMPSHIRE indie pop favourites The Lost Boys are headlining a charity festival in Southampton this Saturday night.

The band, who often appear with Paul Weller or Bruce Foxton, are coming home to perform at the Saxon Inn in Calmore.

The all-day event is raising funds for vital cancer equipment at Southampton General Hospital with 12 acts taking to the stage.

Ahead of the show, lead singer-songwriter Daniel Ash, 25, from Hythe spoke exclusively to the Daily Echo about the band’s future.

“We’re going to record our third single at the end of August and then head out on tour again in the autumn,” he revealed.

“It’s been a long wait, but the songs are written and we’re lucky enough to be going back to Paul Weller’s studio again.

“We’d love to release it in October so there’s not much time to lose.”

Daniel, bassist James Millar, guitarists Shaun Ashley and Josh Doherty, drummer Jason Daniels and keys player Alex Brackley are not ruling out a debut album this year either.

“We have some great tracks ready, but with an album it’s all about timing and making sure everything else is ready, so we’ll have to see what happens,” he said.

“The new tunes still have our trademark style, but there is more of an edge than before. It’s a natural progression.”

The band have been familiar faces at The Joiners since they played their first ever gig there and supported From the Jam at The Engine Rooms in June.
